Early Summer Divination
Three cards from my Collage Oracle Deck to give guidance as we enter into high summer.
Welcome to June! Summer is ramping up and here in the Pacific Northwest, and the weather has been warm. Planting and harvesting have been taking up more of my time-as well as raising my three kids-who are 2, 7, and 8. I have more projects in the works and lots of writing to share, but for now am sending out something a little different.
As any Green Witch knows having access to the larger intelligence of the universe is a skill that can help during challenging times. Here I am sharing a few cards that have helped bring meaning during this last month. I consider the cards to be their own entity capable of tapping into the larger intelligences that surround us. When we engage in divination we are simply the interpreters of those messages. Some more skilled than others. My interest in divination has increased as I have found more tools to explore, but I do not consider myself an expert. I tend follow my intuition in this realm, and I have read on this topic and learned from skilled “Mistresses of Mystery” such as Zsuzsanna Budapest and Judith Laxer, whose work I highly recommend.
I began making collage cards based on the method called Soul Collage created by Seena B. Frost. Making the cards became an immersive and intuitive process. I would get out my collage supplies, cut out many images that called to me, and then find images that belonged together on a card. I would give the card a name based on the theme or archetype that emerged and write an inscription. This probably is similar to the way I write poetry, which requires a shift in consciousness. I would always be amazed at what the end result was. Sometimes uncomfortable if it revealed a subconscious aspect of the unconscious that I found less than desirable. Nevertheless, making a divination deck and then utilizing it for guidance has been very rewarding. I hope you enjoy.
Card I
Inner diamonds
Inscription: in the dark is where a diamond is formed. In the depths and under great pressure. How many diamonds are contained within Earth’s body? Who can ever know. Is it enough to know they are there shining bright? Or must we parade them for all to see on a finger, or around a neck?
Find your inner diamonds and be mindful. Let’s not exploit our treasures. Let’s value them as they are. Uncut, unrefined. From there we can share our gifts. With depth, with fun, levity, and joy.
Card II
Maiden’s strength
Inscription: You’ve been told so many things: “be kind, giving, willing, passive.” This is how a girl is. But it’s not. Open up to the wider world of adventure. You are part of this. Your being a woman is a gift. Look deep within and mysteries will unfold. Take this wisdom and run.
Card III
The apprenticeship
Inscription: Seven years of learning and challenge have past. Where were you seven years ago? What has changed? To where do you set your inner sights today? A new spring awaits, the waters cool and soothing. Follow the sounds. Wisdom emerges.
Thank you for reading and please consider becoming a paid subscriber and sharing my writing with others. Stay tuned for more herb walks in the Cottage Grove area as well as a YouTube channel where I aspire to create a new avenue for sharing about the plants, and other topics of interest.
As always, remember the plants want to know you.
Thank you in particular for this thought to remember "the plants want to know you." ! Your voice is important in my life, the acknowledgement of subtle attitude shifts!
I LOVE this idea!! I have done something sort of similar, drawing cards from various decks and painting my interpretation and scribing an activation with it. I love the collaging aspect and the intuitive process you gently invite us into.
